Our History
A New Beginning
In 1993, 26 employees decided to take over their textile company, which was then in receivership. They aimed to rethink the workshop’s business model and involve all employees, who took on the risk of rebuilding this venture.

The founding objectives were to promote the craft of knitting within the luxury sector, ensure the transmission of know-how, and guarantee the sustainability of the business.
The new owners invested their severance pay to create a Worker Cooperative and Participative Company (SCOP). They became the first employee-shareholders and appointed their own management.
Soon, clients entrusted SCOP Maille Création with the development of samples, prototypes, and then the production of high-end knitwear garments.
Expanding a Production Network
By the early 2000s, the workshop’s expertise gained full recognition in the world of luxury ready-to-wear.
To meet the growing demand in the shortest possible time, SCOP Maille Création created a network of carefully selected subcontractors, mainly located in the Treviso region of Italy, the historic heart of European knitwear.
Outsourcing also allows occasional access to specialized skills, tailored to the most relevant developments for each project.
Structuring the Collection Model
The 2010s saw accelerated growth and business strengthening.
Support services were established, the acquisition of a new sewing workshop in Port-Brillet expanded expertise, and investment in new IT tools enhanced the workshop’s daily performance.
Beyond functional decisions, the team also structured around a Collection/Development department, dedicated to creating knit samples and prototypes for numerous ready-to-wear and haute couture clients.
This team of 20 employees meets the specific demands of product development, following the rhythm of the seasons, with up to 8 collections per year. Programmers, technical experts, and creatives work on the latest Shima and Stoll software and operate a dedicated fleet of more than 20 flat-bed knitting machines.
Italy: Production Partner
To facilitate oversight of productions entrusted to Italian subcontractors, SCOP Maille Création established its own local subsidiary in 2011. MC Italie SRL allows two quality controllers to monitor the production region daily, ensuring compliance with quality standards and deadlines across a network of 15–20 partner subcontractors.
In 2023, the Italian subsidiary, MC Italie SRL, acquired a family-owned knitwear company in Cassola, in the province of Vicenza near Venice. This gives the Italian unit its own development and production capabilities to better serve clients in Italy.
Expanding into New Markets
In 2025, SCOP Maille Création acquired La Maison de la Maille, a Sarthe-based company specializing in knit accessories for the decoration sector. This acquisition opens new opportunities for the workshop’s exceptional craftsmanship, serving architects, decorators, hotels, and private residences. Knitwear becomes a new textile medium, unlocking limitless creative possibilities.
For over 30 years, SCOP Maille Création has brought its expertise and mastery of knitwear to the creations of prestigious luxury houses and emerging designers.
Today, 80 employees in France and 30 in Italy work every day to uphold a tradition of excellence and impeccable quality across ready-to-wear, haute couture, and interior decoration.
